April 8, 2016 11:02

Honda Vietnam has just unexpectedly introduced Winner 150, a sporty manual clutch motorcycle model competing with its rival Yamaha Exciter 150, which will be on sale next June.

Despite the fierce competition in each segment, the sporty manual transmission motorbike segment is still Yamaha's pride with the Exciter, just like Honda has the SH in the high-end scooter segment in the Vietnamese market. Many people still wonder why Honda doesn't launch a manual transmission motorbike to compete with the Exciter like it introduced the Air Blade to compete with the Nouvo? And now, we have the Winner 150, Honda's first manual transmission motorbike produced in Vietnam, which is also the first model to compete directly with the Exciter in terms of both engine capacity and overall design style.

In terms of appearance, the Honda Winner 150 has a sporty style with bold, sharp and elegant lines when viewed from the front and rear. However, if viewed from the side, it feels like the front of the car is a bit humped because of the high front fairing design. This design is popular in many other Southeast Asian markets such as Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc. It is known that the car's headlights use LED technology while the clock cluster integrates a modern LCD screen.

In addition to the design, the biggest concern about the Winner 150 is certainly the engine and transmission system. The vehicle uses a 150cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with electronic fuel injection technology combined with a 4.5-liter fuel tank. The engine has a capacity of 14.75 horsepower at 9,000 rpm, torque of 13.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The Winner 150 has 6 transmission gears instead of 5 gears like the Exciter 150. This is considered an advantage, especially when running long distances at high speeds.

Other specifications of the Honda Winner 150 include front telescopic shock absorbers and rear single-cylinder sport springs. The vehicle uses tubeless tires with a front wheel diameter of 90/80 while the rear wheel diameter is 120/70, helping to increase traction, especially when cornering.

Currently, Honda has not revealed the official price of Winner 150, only knowing that the vehicle will be sold next June with two versions and 4 different colors. Most likely, Honda will price Winner 150 slightly higher than its competitor Yamaha.
