From June 2016, Nghe An province will have a Vinh - Bangkok flight route.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 24th, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting with Vietnam Transport and Tourism Marketing Joint Stock Company (Vietravel) to discuss solutions for opening a Vinh - Bangkok (Thailand) flight route.

Attending the working session were: Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien – Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders from relevant departments and agencies; and leaders of Vietravel Company, Nghe An Branch.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee – presided over the meeting.

Recently, Vietravel Company conducted surveys and assessments to prepare for the launch of the Vinh - Bangkok flight route in June 2016. Vietravel assessed that the demand for overseas travel among people in Nghe An and neighboring provinces is not yet high, with most passengers still traveling to Thailand by land.

Vietravel plans to charter two round-trip flights per month between Vinh and Bangkok from other airlines, and conduct a trial period of three months from June to August 2016.

Mr. Tran Doan The Duy, Deputy General Director of Vietravel Company, expressed his hope to receive support from the provincial leaders and relevant departments to successfully promote and maintain the new flight route, contributing to the development of trade and exchange between the two countries and the two localities at the beginning of the route.

Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, expressed his belief that the opening of the flight route will contribute to the development of Nghe An's economic, cultural, and tourism potential. This is an opportunity to develop Nghe An's tourism industry, so relevant departments and agencies, such as the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the press, need to support the promotion of the Vinh - Bangkok flight route.

Representatives from various departments and agencies agreed with the plan to open this flight route; they acknowledged the significant potential for tourists traveling from Nghe An to Bangkok, especially during peak season; and suggested that Vietravel should coordinate effectively with relevant departments and travel companies in Nghe An and neighboring provinces to operate the Vinh - Bangkok route efficiently. However, thorough preparation is necessary, including careful surveys of the impacts not only in Nghe An but also in Ha Tinh and Thanh Hoa provinces, as well as effective promotion through diverse and engaging methods, combined with promoting the tourism potential of Central Vietnam.

Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - requested Vietravel Company to expedite the procedures and finalize the plan to submit to the Provincial People's Committee so that the Vinh - Bangkok flight route can be launched in June 2016.

Concluding the meeting, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that opening the Vinh - Thailand flight route is necessary to contribute to upgrading Vinh International Airport and simultaneously develop and connect the economic and tourism potential between Nghe An and Thailand. The Provincial People's Committee assigned relevant departments and units to coordinate to ensure the opening of the new Vinh - Thailand flight route is implemented on schedule and operates effectively. The province also agreed with Vietravel's price support plan for the first three months of operation and requested Vietravel to announce the flight schedule before April 2016.
