From June 2016, Nghe An will have a Vinh - Bangkok flight route.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 24, the Provincial People's Committee had a working session with Vietnam Tourism and Transport Marketing Joint Stock Company (Vietravel) to discuss solutions to open a flight route Vinh - Bangkok (Thailand).

Attending the meeting were comrades: Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of relevant departments and branches and leaders of Vietravel Company, Nghe An Branch.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the meeting.

Recently, Vietravel Company has conducted surveys and assessments to prepare for the opening of the Vinh - Bangkok flight route in June 2016. Vietravel Company assessed that the demand for foreign travel of Nghe An people and neighboring provinces is not much, mainly passengers still travel to Thailand by road.

Vietravel Company plans to charter flights from airlines for 2 round trips per month from Vinh to Bangkok and test for 3 months from 6-8/2016.

Mr. Tran Doan The Duy - Deputy General Director of Vietravel Company hopes to receive support from provincial leaders and related departments and branches to successfully promote and maintain the new flight route, contributing to promoting development and traffic between the two countries and the two localities at the beginning of the route.

Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his belief that the opening of the flight route will contribute to the development of economic, cultural and tourism potentials for Nghe An. This is an opportunity to develop Nghe An tourism industry, so relevant departments and branches such as the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism, and press agencies need to support the promotion of the Vinh - Bangkok flight route.

Representatives of the leaders of departments and branches agreed with the policy of opening this flight route; assessed that the potential for tourists traveling from Nghe An to Bangkok is quite large, especially during the tourist season; suggested that Vietravel Company should coordinate well with departments and branches as well as travel companies of Nghe An and neighboring provinces to effectively exploit the Vinh - Bangkok flight route. However, to prepare well, it is necessary to have a thorough survey on the related impacts not only in Nghe An but also in Ha Tinh and Thanh Hoa provinces and do a good job of promotion in many diverse forms combined with promoting the tourism potential of the Central region.

Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee requested Vietravel Company to expedite the procedures and finalize the plan to submit to the Provincial People's Committee so that the Vinh - Bangkok flight route can open in June 2016.

Concluding the meeting, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that opening the Vinh - Thailand flight route is necessary to contribute to raising the level of Vinh International Airport. At the same time, developing and connecting the economic and tourism potentials between Nghe An and Thailand. The Provincial People's Committee assigned relevant departments, branches and units to coordinate so that the opening of the new Vinh - Thailand flight route is implemented on schedule and operates effectively. The province also agreed with Vietravel's price support plan in the first 3 months of opening and requested Vietravel Company to announce flights before April 2016.
