Opening Ceremony of the 2016 Lotus Village Festival

(Baonghean.vn) – On the evening of May 17th, at Lang Sen Stadium (Kim Lien, Nam Dan), the People's Committee of Nghe An province held the opening ceremony of the 2016 Lang Sen Festival, commemorating the 126th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2016).

Attending the ceremony were: Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Nam Dan District Party Committee; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee: Comrade Le Minh Thong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Department; Comrade Ho Phuc Hop - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; representatives of leaders from provincial departments and agencies; the Nam Dan District Party Committee and People's Committee; representatives of the Nguyen Sinh and Hoang Xuan clans, along with a large number of local people.

Prior to the opening ceremony of the festival, a delegation of provincial leaders and representatives from various departments and agencies offered incense and flowers in commemoration of President Ho Chi Minh at the Kim Lien Historical Site. Following this, a procession carrying a portrait of President Ho Chi Minh paraded from the Historical Site to the Lang Sen Stadium, attracting the participation of a large number of people.

The Lotus Village Festival originated from the first "Lotus Village Singing Festival" held in May 1982, which was later upgraded to the annual Lotus Village Festival at the provincial level and every five years at the national level.

This year, the Sen Village Festival is being held on a provincial scale, with the main theme being "Honoring President Ho Chi Minh, honoring the culture of Sen Village, praising the Party, and celebrating Nghe An province's integration and development."

In his opening speech, Comrade Le Minh Thong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized: The Lang Sen Festival is an opportunity for us to express our gratitude for the immense contributions of President Ho Chi Minh and to honor his ideological values.

The 2016 Lotus Village Festival was even more meaningful as it coincided with the time when the entire Party, army, and people were enthusiastically preparing for the election of representatives to the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels.

The 2016 Lotus Village Festival was a resounding success, featuring spectacular cultural performances by both professional and amateur art troupes.

The 2016 Lang Sen Village Festival took place over four days (May 16-19, 2016) with many diverse activities: volleyball competitions; youth camp; exhibition of photographs on the themes of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh; Miss Lang Sen Village contest… The 2016 Lang Sen Village Festival is expected to conclude at Ho Chi Minh Square (Vinh City) on the evening of May 19th.
