Opening of the 2016 Lotus Village Festival
(Baonghean.vn) – On the evening of May 17, at Lang Sen Stadium (Kim Lien, Nam Dan), Nghe An Provincial People's Committee held the opening ceremony of Lang Sen Festival 2016, commemorating the 126th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2016).
Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Nam Dan District Party Committee; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee: Le Minh Thong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Van Thong - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee; Ho Phuc Hop - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors; Nam Dan District Party Committee and People's Committee; representatives of the Nguyen Sinh and Hoang Xuan families and a large number of local people.
Before the opening ceremony, the delegation of provincial leaders and departments, branches and sectors held a ceremony to offer incense and flowers to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at the Kim Lien Relic Site. Then, the procession carrying Uncle Ho's portrait marched from the Relic Site to Lang Sen Stadium, attracting the participation of a large number of people.

The Lotus Village Festival originated from the “Lotus Village Singing Festival” which was first held in May 1982, and was later upgraded to the Lotus Village Festival held annually at the provincial level and every five years at the national level.
This year, the Lotus Village Festival is held at the provincial level, with the main theme being "Honoring President Ho Chi Minh, honoring Lotus Village culture, praising the Party, and Nghe An homeland integrating and developing".

The 2016 Lotus Village Festival is even more meaningful as it is held on the occasion when the entire Party, army and people are eagerly preparing for the election day of National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels.

The 2016 Lotus Village Festival will take place over 4 days (May 16 – May 19, 2016) with many diverse activities: volleyball competition; youth camp; photo exhibition on the theme of the Party and Uncle Ho; Miss Lotus Village contest… It is expected that the 2016 Lotus Village Festival will close at Ho Chi Minh Square (Vinh City) on the evening of May 19.
