The Syrian crisis casts a shadow over Obama's visit to Germany.

US President Barack Obama has arrived in Germany to hold talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel on economic issues and the Syrian crisis.

This is the final stop on US President Obama's six-day tour of the Middle East, the UK, and Germany. Prior to this, Obama spent three days in the UK, where he urged British citizens to vote in favor of remaining in the European Union in the upcoming June referendum.

In Germany, President Obama is expected to visit and deliver a speech at a major industrial trade fair, alongside Chancellor Merkel.

Ahead of the meeting, the two leaders expressed hope that a US-Europe multilateral trade agreement (TTIP), if reached, would boost bilateral trade to around $100 billion annually.

It is clear that US President Obama is making every effort to conclude the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations before he officially leaves office on January 20, 2017.

Before returning home, President Obama, Chancellor Merkel, French President François Hollande, and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi will meet to discuss intelligence sharing following the terrorist attacks in France and Belgium, and a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
