'Spotlight' on dirty food establishments on loudspeakers

That is the new regulation issued in Directive No. 08/CT-UBND of Hanoi People's Committee on strengthening the management of food service and street food businesses.

Accordingly, Hanoi requires the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to develop a plan to implement food safety assurance for food service and street food businesses in the locality.

In case of inspection and detection of establishments violating food safety regulations, promptly announce the names of violating establishments on the commune and ward radio stations so that consumers know not to use them.

TThe Directive also clearly stipulates the responsibilities of the government and functional units in managing food service establishments and street food, and strengthens inspections and resolutely punishes violations of food safety according to decentralization. The District Food Safety Steering Committee periodically inspects the food safety management of communes, wards and towns every 6 months.

In addition, the city will also plan a number of streets focusing on food and beverage services, ensuring infrastructure conditions and public services; continue to maintain and replicate pilot models of street food and improved models on 30 civilized urban streets.

Therefore, it is necessary to proactively prevent food poisoning and foodborne diseases in food service and street food businesses. When there are food safety violations, the Hanoi People's Committee requires clearly defining the responsibilities of each level of government and unit.

The Department of Health deploys plans, provides professional guidance, and coordinates inspections with districts, towns, and cities to manage food safety for food service and street food businesses. Directs subordinate units to deploy pilot models on improving food safety for food services, and provides professional support to lower-level units.

In addition, strengthen coordination with functional units at district and commune levels to inspect food service establishments and street food establishments managed by districts, communes and wards.
