Vietnamese Wing Chun master knocks out "Czechoslovakian giant"
After a series of blows that were like… a rifle shot at a tank, the Wing Chun master quickly turned around and delivered a One-Inch Punch that hit the giant's temple, making him dizzy.
After finishing a few medical treatments for two patients with stroke and herniated disc, martial artist Nguyen Khac Chuong - Head of Y Vo Thien Phuc martial arts school, sat down to take a break, sipped a cup of tea, and told us about special memories in his 30 years of martial arts.
The unexpected match left the "Czechoslovakian giant" stunned.
Master Truong said he began learning martial arts at the age of 16 with the Shaolin Kunlun style. But realizing that martial arts are vast and profound, he went abroad to study Taekwondo, Shaolin Southern School, at a very young age.
Until one day (in 1988), the young man Nguyen Khac Chuong met a master of Wing Chun, the one with the "golden hands" of Vietnamese martial arts - the late martial artist Trinh Quoc Dinh, and immediately took the senior as his master.
Martial arts master Nguyen Khac Chuong demonstrates his skills with his disciples.
For months, Khac Chuong practiced both Shaolin Southern School and Wing Chun, with one teacher in the morning and another in the afternoon. With his natural talent, in no time, his martial arts skills reached a level of proficiency.
But being an engineer, Khac Chuong was sent to Czechoslovakia (today's Czech Republic) with a transportation company to study and work in the field of train repair.
In a foreign land, Khac Chuong joined a martial arts club to satisfy his passion that had been in his blood for a long time.
Master Truong said that at that time, society in Czechoslovakia was still full of complications. Every night, black young men with "gangster" heads would fight everywhere.
Many times, the whole gang knew he knew “Asian kung fu” and came to pick a fight or asked to learn from him right after his night shift. However, he never met a worthy opponent.
After many times of "physical violence", Nguyen Khac Chuong became a famous name in foreign countries. Until one day, he was finally troubled by an opponent who had not once appeared before.
Surprisingly, this opponent turned out to be Nguyen Khac Chuong's "boss", a choir leader named Petr, who worked at the same train repair shop.
In terms of strength, this guy was “unrivaled” in the area. He was about 2 meters tall, weighed about 120 kg, and had bulging muscles.
Normally, the magnetic brakes of the train weighed about 150 kg, and when installed, they needed to be lifted up with a wheelbarrow and then screwed in. But he only needed to lift them with both hands and hold them in place, while others only had to screw in the screws, and his expression remained unchanged.
Seeing Nguyen Khac Chuong's reputation growing, he decided to choose a beautiful night and invite Chuong to compete.
As soon as we met, he said bluntly: “Today, you and I will test our strength together. I want to know what Asian martial arts are like, but I believe that just hugging you tightly is enough to make you suffocate!”
Although he didn't want to fight, with the "boss's" frankness and frankness, Khac Chuong accepted.
The two sides looked at each other for a few seconds. Khac Chuong took a defensive stance, and the guardian also spread his arms and stood in a stance. Khac Chuong threw several hammer-like kicks, but he still stood still, not bothering to counterattack as if he was thinking in his head: "Let me hit you as much as I want"!
When kicking couldn't stop him, he punched. Khac Chuong threw about ten more punches but he was still unmoved. At this point, knowing he had encountered a master, Khac Chuong suddenly thought:
“Hitting him with normal attacks now is like using a rifle to shoot a tank, we have to switch to another tactic.”
Suddenly, Khac Chuong kicked the copper shin several times. At this moment, feeling the pain, the guardian became angry and started to counterattack.
But when he just withdrew his hand, intending to throw a thunderous punch, Khac Chuong, as quick as lightning, turned around and approached, jerked a One-inch punch that hit his temple, then kicked his lower body. The guardian was stunned and fell to the floor.
After a while, he regained consciousness. He approached Nguyen Khac Chuong and said: “Your skills are truly amazing. Today I have truly opened my eyes!”
Although he is in his fifties, martial artist Nguyen Khac Chuong still possesses very agile movements..
The opponent can't beat them, so we have to use a strategy to sow discord.
After 4 years in Czechoslovakia, Nguyen Khac Chuong returned to Vietnam to pursue his martial arts career. Since then, he has not stepped into the ring to compete, but even so, street-style fights, without any rules or regulations, still take place as a daily occurrence.
About 2 years ago, despite his old age, he still experienced such a match with a friend in Saigon.
During a trip to the south, a friend who was also a young martial artist but had a famous reputation in Saigon decided to invite him to his home with the purpose of judging his talent, to see if the person known as the "divine martial artist" in Hanoi was worthy of his reputation.
Faced with his friend's "kind intention", martial artist Chuong had no choice but to accept.
After arriving at your house for a while, while chatting, your friend suddenly ran to the gate, picked up a very hard brick, brought it in and said:
“Your skills are so famous, I sometimes see you performing Iron Sand Palm, breaking concrete, so can you smash this brick with one strike?”
Master Truong did not say anything, but just gently pulled his hand up, clapped it once, and the brick shattered into pieces. His friend suddenly became absent-minded for a moment.
“Your arms and legs are like that, but they’re probably not as strong as mine. If we fought, I think it would be hard for you to defend yourself…” - my friend said, pointing at his banana-like hands.
After a moment of thought, martial arts master Chuong said: "Do you have a spacious place at home? Let's try a few moves." Immediately, his friend led him downstairs.
But surprisingly, the match only lasted about 2 minutes. With a powerful punch, the guest sent his friend flying over the table.
Hit by a dangerous blow, the host immediately admitted defeat and said:
“At first, I thought it would be easy to beat you because I had competed all over the South and never lost. But today, I thought you were a different person. I had heard many people talk about you but didn’t believe it. Today, I believe it.”
After that, the friend insisted on inviting martial arts master Truong to stay for dinner to show his admiration.
Martial arts master Nguyen Khac Chuong is praised by the martial arts community as a person with "divine power".
Master Nguyen Khac Chuong said that since he started teaching Wing Chun, for nearly 30 years, many people have come to the school to challenge him. Some people come with nice words, while others use abusive and insulting words.
On the 29th of Tet 2014, when martial arts master Chuong was planning to go to his wife's parents' house to celebrate the New Year, suddenly 4 guests came to the martial arts school wanting to "exchange". Among these 4 people, there was also someone who had lost before but was still not satisfied, so he expressed his desire to fight again.
However, the outcome was still the same. The four guests took turns competing, but all of them lost after just a few moves, and one was even knocked out after just 3 seconds.
Martial artist Nguyen Khac Chuong said he had never been defeated. But he had three times fallen victim to jealousy and resentment through the same repeated divisive tactics.
Those were the times when opponents came to challenge him but lost. After that, they used provocation tricks, mobilizing their trusted disciples to turn against him, or simultaneously asked to leave the martial arts school.
“The taller the tree, the stronger the wind. The more achievements you have, the more gossip you will face. Even the famous Nguyen Trai was sentenced to extermination of his entire family, let alone me” – martial artist Nguyen Khac Chuong talked about what he felt most distressed about.
The martial arts master also confided that he actually never cared about winning or losing, let alone fame or fortune.
So he has taught martial arts for over 20 years to thousands of students in the country and abroad, even going to patients' homes to treat them, but he has never collected a single penny in tuition fees, even though there were times when they did not have enough to eat.
Since establishing Y Vo Thien Phuc to teach martial arts combined with medical treatment, he has only collected tuition fees at a level sufficient to maintain the school.
In addition to teaching martial arts, martial arts master Nguyen Khac Chuong especially values healing and saving people.
Martial arts master Nguyen Khac Chuong said: “The ultimate goal of practicing martial arts is not to fight. People who practice martial arts should not think about the ego, but think about the self, think about the community before practicing martial arts.”
“Our enemy is not a martial arts master, but ourselves. We learn martial arts to conquer ourselves, not fearing life and death, not discussing winning or losing, not caring about fame or profit, to put everything into nothingness…” - the martial arts master smiled.
The unique Yuan Ping Gong technique Master Nguyen Khac Chuong is the creator of Vien Binh Cong – using a ball to practice martial arts and practice energy. This is a unique martial art only available at Y Vo Thien Phuc. The unique thing about Vien Binh Cong is that it not only trains fighting ability (through twisting techniques with the distance between the ball being the distance between the two arms in combat) but also trains Qi, which is very effective for Qigong health preservation and healing. A few years ago, a delegation from the World Vovinam Federation, including many senior coaches from Europe, visited master Nguyen Khac Chuong to practice Vien Binh Cong for 2 weeks. |
