For nearly a month now, every day he wakes up at 4 am, rides his motorbike to Nghi Huong commune to buy cracked melons from the fields and brings them to Vinh city to sell on the streets near Vinh Railway Station market. Melons are cut in the garden for 12 - 15 thousand VND/fruit, transported to Vinh, he retails for 17 - 22 thousand VND. On average, Mr. The sells 80 melons per day, earning a profit of 200 - 300 thousand VND.

Mr. The said: I have been selling fruit in Vinh city for over a year now, each season has its own fruit, from oranges to melons, longans... This job earns me 6-8 million VND per month but it is hard. Cracked melons have to be cut very early, if the sun is up the melons will crack, so I have to wake up at 4am every day, stand on the street selling all day until the goods are sold out.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Thuan, from Dong Van Commune, Tan Ky District, also went to Vinh City to rent a room to work as a fruit vendor. Every day, he sells 150-200 cracked melons. “I went all the way to Nghi Huong and Nghi Thach to buy these melons to sell. Yesterday, I sold nearly 200 melons. After deducting the capital and gas costs, I earned more than 200,000 VND in profit. Today, I bought 180 melons in bulk, but so far I have only sold a few dozen,” said Mr. Thuan.
