1. Russia holds a military parade to commemorate Victory Day.

Ten thousand soldiers, along with hundreds of tanks, armored vehicles, and various types of military aircraft, were mobilized to participate in the parade, showcasing Russia's military might.
2. North Korea celebrates the success of its party congress.
Concluding its first party congress in 36 years, North Korea held a spectacular show with dazzling synchronized performances and fireworks illuminating Pyongyang on the night of May 10th.

The four-day congress was a symbolically important event, providing an opportunity for Kim Jong-un to consolidate his power. The North Korean leader also declared that he would only use nuclear weapons when national sovereignty was threatened.

Real estate mogul Donald Trump is closely trailing former First Lady Hillary Clinton in the race for the White House. In the latest Reuters poll released on May 11th, 41% of voters supported Clinton for president, while Trump received 40%.
4. The Brazilian president is impeached.
The Brazilian Senate has voted to remove President Dilma Rousseff from office and impeach her, paving the way for the formation of a new government in Latin America's largest economy. Along with her removal from office, Rousseff will face impeachment proceedings before the Brazilian Senate in a process that could last 180 days. Following the impeachment process, she could be permanently removed from office.

5. Russia revolts as the US activates its missile shield.
The United States launched an $800 million missile shield in Romania on May 12, considering it particularly important for protecting the security of the US and Europe.

Meanwhile, Russia claims that the shield recently deployed by the US is aimed at Russia's nuclear arsenal.
6. Concerns about the Zika virus in many countries.
On May 13, health officials in the US territory of Puerto Rico announced the discovery of the first case of a fetus with microcephaly caused by the mother's Zika virus infection.

On the same day, Singapore's Ministry of Health and the National Environment Agency announced that the country had recorded its first case of Zika infection – a virus that is spreading rapidly in dozens of countries and territories.
