Anh Son currently has more than 1,000 hectares of ponds and lakes, so the district is having a policy to support the development of wild duck flocks to exploit the potential in the area to help people develop the economy.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuyen's family in Da beach, Phuc Son commune is one of the households selected to build the model. In early March this year, with the district's support of 15 million VND, Mr. Tuyen invested more than 30 million VND to buy wild ducks and raise them on 2 hectares of water surface. As a person with many years of experience in raising animals, he has carefully cared for the ducks and they are growing well.

Mr. Tuyen said: With the desire to replicate this model, with the support of the district, I bought 400 wild ducks. During the raising process, I always focused on disease prevention, so after more than 3 months, the flock of ducks has developed well, each weighing nearly 1kg. In about a month, I will sell the breeding ducks and meat ducks, promising a high income.

After nearly 3 months of raising, Mr. Tuyen's family's flock of wild ducks has grown well, and is a source of breeding stock in the district.

Mallard ducks are very suitable for the climate in Nghe An and are easy to raise. When the ducks are young, they should be fed with egg bran and fully vaccinated against diseases. The coop must be near water, airy, and clean to prevent epidemics. Mallard ducks are good at finding food in streams and fields. The meat quality is very delicious and firm because they are raised in a free-range manner. According to calculations, raising mallard ducks brings higher income than raising normal ducks, each kg costs from 120 to 150 thousand VND, while grass ducks only cost from 50 to 70 thousand VND/kg with the same investment cost.
