The European Chemicals Agency has conducted a study demonstrating the dangers of tattoo inks on the human body. |
Tattoo dyes are potentially toxic and have been linked to a variety of illnesses, from allergies to cancer. Red ink is the most toxic, followed by blue, green and black.
The agency also plans to publish a list of questionable ingredients found in tattoo dyes.
Notably, tattoo artists have welcomed the research. Rick Stevens, one of the main representatives of this type of business in the UK, said that they have had to deal with the influx of questionable quality ink from cheap China.
“There is simply no system in place to check the quality of tattoo inks,” he stressed.
