Overcoming the overload situation at Nghe An Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 12, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to listen to and give opinions on the implementation of investment projects of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.

Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital is one of two grade 1 hospitals under the Nghe An Department of Health. With the function and task of examining and treating obstetric and pediatric diseases, in the first 6 months of 2016, the hospital received nearly 154,000 visits (an increase of 124.8%), and treated nearly 27,000 inpatients (an increase of 117.9%) compared to the same period.

The current difficulty is that the hospital is too small, the number of patients examined and treated at the hospital always exceeds the number of beds. The current human resources are nearly 400 people short of the standard.

At the meeting, representatives of departments, agencies and sectors discussed the implementation of the "Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital Component Project, under the Phase II Provincial and Regional Hospital Development Project" funded by Jica; the implementation of the project to build satellite hospitals of the National Children's Hospital and the National Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital; the plan to establish affiliated centers such as the Center for Prenatal and Neonatal Screening and Diagnosis, the Center for Congenital Heart Disease Treatment, etc.

Concluding the meeting, comrade Le Minh Thong highly appreciated the efforts of the Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital in the past time, and at the same time requested the hospital's staff, doctors and employees to proactively overcome difficulties, promote medical ethics, innovate the style and attitude of serving patients, and take the quality of medical examination and treatment as a measure of operational efficiency.

Regarding the planning for the construction of the new Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital, comrade Le Minh Thong requested that the Hospital consider carefully, avoid waste, and be suitable to current practical conditions.

Every time the weather changes, the number of children coming to see a doctor and being hospitalized increases dramatically.

In addition, it is necessary to advise the province to develop a suitable renovation plan, gradually overcoming the current overload situation; Strictly control revenue and expenditure to balance capital sources appropriately, ensure facilities and conditions for patient service, especially pay attention to patients using health insurance cards.
