Addressing the overcrowding issue at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 12th, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to hear and give opinions on the progress of investment projects at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.
Comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, presided over the meeting.
Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital is one of two Grade 1 hospitals under the Nghe An Department of Health. With its function and nhiệm vụ of examining and treating specialized obstetric and pediatric diseases, in the first six months of 2016, the hospital received nearly 154,000 outpatient visits (an increase of 124.8%) and treated nearly 27,000 inpatients (an increase of 117.9%) compared to the same period.

The current challenge is that the hospital is too small, with the number of patients seeking examination and treatment always exceeding the available beds. The current workforce is also short of the required standard by nearly 400 people.
During the meeting, representatives from various departments and agencies discussed the implementation of the "Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital Component Project, part of the provincial and regional hospital development project, phase II," funded by JICA; the implementation of the project to build satellite hospitals of the National Children's Hospital and the National Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital; and the plan to establish affiliated centers such as the Center for Prenatal and Neonatal Screening and Diagnosis, and the Center for Congenital Heart Disease Treatment...

Concluding the meeting, Comrade Le Minh Thong highly appreciated the efforts of the Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital in the past period, and at the same time requested the hospital's officials, doctors, and staff to proactively overcome difficulties, uphold medical ethics, innovate the style and attitude of serving patients, and use the quality of medical examination and treatment as a measure of operational effectiveness.
Regarding the planning and construction of the new Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, Comrade Le Minh Thong requested that the hospital carefully consider the matter, avoid waste, and ensure it is appropriate to the current practical conditions.
