'4 on-site' drill to prevent, fight and rescue fishing boats on fire

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of August 29, at Lach Van Fishing Port (Dien Ngoc, Dien Chau District), Nghe An Fishing Port Management Board coordinated with Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department No. 4 (Nghe An Fire Prevention and Fighting Police) to organize training, fire prevention and fighting drills, and rescue for local seafood businesses and fishermen.

This activity aims to train and raise awareness for nearly 100 fishermen, boat owners, organizations and individuals operating in fishing ports and fishing port officers and employees to proactively and be ready to handle fire and explosion situations.

A hypothetical fire situation was set up, in the fishing port area there were many ships unloading seafood and a fishing boat moored in the port area caught fire. The fire developed quickly, engulfing the entire fishing boat, emitting heat, smoke, toxic gas and threatening to spread to neighboring boats. There were also many assets on the boat, along with many crew members of other boats participating in firefighting, rescue, and relief but were trapped in the fire.

Fire police, fishing port management board, and local authorities discussed fire prevention and fighting plans for boats at fishing ports.

In the face of the above dangerous situation, when a fire is detected, the person who detected it will alert the entire fishing port and cut off the power to the burning ship. The local fire prevention and fighting force will deploy forces to rescue people and property and use on-site fire fighting equipment and tools to put out the fire and immediately notify the professional fire fighting force, send someone to pick up the fire truck, and guide the water source to the professional fire fighting force.

Upon receiving the fire alarm, the professional firefighting force immediately dispatched personnel and firefighting equipment to the scene to extinguish the fire and rescue the victims trapped in the fire. During the firefighting process, local police, border guards, local authorities, etc. also mobilized personnel and equipment to protect the scene, coordinate in extinguishing the fire, rescuing people, rescuing property, and overcoming the consequences of the fire.

From the practice of the drill will be experiences and lessons in fire prevention and fighting at fishing ports in Nghe An and on fishing boats when fishing or unloading seafood.
