The "super" SUV Lamborghini Urus starts at $200,000.

The commercial version of the Italian brand's luxury SUV is expected to launch in the market in 2018.

The Italian automaker plans to introduce the "super" SUV Urus (tentative name) in 2018 and expects sales to double thanks to this new product.

In addition to the traditional fuel-powered version, a plug-in hybrid version of the Urus will be available on the market before 2020. A fully electric version will follow, according to Automotive News.

Lamborghini has stated that it is no longer focusing as heavily on producing supercars as before. The sales target for 2019 is to produce around 7,000 vehicles, with half of those being SUVs. The US is a key market for Lamborghini's SUV models. Similarly, China has significant potential in the premium SUV segment, although market demand is not as strong as it was a few years ago.

The Lamborghini Urus is the second SUV model after the first, the LM002, which was produced between 1986 and 1993 in a limited run of only 31 units. There is no official information yet regarding the engine of the commercial version of the Urus. Some predictions suggest a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 600 horsepower and 651 Nm of torque.

Lamborghini's SUV is manufactured at the Sant'Agata Bolognese plant in Italy, alongside two other models, the Huracan and Aventador.
