'Super' SUV Lamborghini Urus priced from 200,000 USD

The commercial version of the Italian brand's luxury SUV is expected to launch in 2018.

At the festivalPebble Beach 2016 car took place last weekend in the US,Stefano Domenicali, the new CEO of Lamborghini, revealed an update to the company's commercial SUV, priced from $200,000. The Italian carmaker plans to introduce the "super" SUV Urus (tentative name) in 2018 and expects sales to double thanks to this new product.

In addition to the traditional fuel-powered version, the Urus with a plug-in hybrid engine will be available on the market before 2020. Then there will be a fully electric version, according to Automotive News.

Lamborghini said it is not focusing as much on producing super sports cars as before. The sales target for 2019 is to produce about 7,000 cars, half of which are SUVs. The US is a key market for Lamborghini's SUVs. The same is true for China, a country with great potential in the high-end SUV segment, although market demand is not as "hot" as a few years ago.

Lamborghini Urus is the second SUV brand after the first product LM002, a model produced in the period 1986-1993 with a quantity of only 31 units. The commercial version of Urus has no official information about the engine. Some predictions mention a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, 600 horsepower and maximum torque of 651 Nm.

Lamborghini's SUV is produced at the Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy plant alongside two other models, the Huracan and Aventador.
