The 92m long Airlander 10 aircraft was damaged during a flight from Cardington Airport in Bedfordshire, eastern England today.
According to the BBC, the plane crashed into a telegraph pole. "When it landed, it appeared to be nose down and landed very hard on the cockpit," ma witness said.
"All crew are safe and there were no injuries," a spokesman for the manufacturer Hybrid Air Vehicles said.
The plane just made its first test flight on August 17.
The Airlander is a hybrid aircraft and airship that will cost more than $30 million and can fly for up to five days on a single manned flight. Its developers say it could be used for surveillance, communications, aid and passenger transport. The Airlander is designed to use less fuel than a plane, but carry heavier cargo than a conventional airship.
