Diyarbakir is a key city in southeastern Türkiye, a predominantly Kurdish region where Kurdish rebels have waged a 30-year insurgency.

On the same day, a Turkish soldier was killed and three others were injured in a rocket attack on a tank near the town of Jarablus in northern Syria, after Ankara launched a cross-border operation last week.

According to Turkish military sources, the attack originated from the territory of the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG)./.
