On her official Twitter page, Clinton shared: "The Charlotte Police Department needs to release the video of the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott immediately. We must ensure justice and work to heal divisions."

Clinton's campaign also said she planned to visit Charlotte on September 25, following a week of protests in the city. However, on the evening of September 23 (local time), her campaign announced the trip had been postponed at the request of Charlotte Mayor Jennifer Roberts.

Clinton's communications director, Jennifer Palmieri, said: "After further discussions with local leaders, we decided to postpone the September 25 trip so as not to disrupt the city's work. Mrs. Clinton plans to visit Charlotte this coming Sunday if circumstances permit."

Prior to the first live debate between the two US presidential candidates on September 26, both Clinton and Donald Trump faced questions about the violence between American police and African Americans in North Carolina and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
