Nghe An: Successful rescue of a fishing boat whose engine failed at sea.
(Baonghean.vn) - Border guards in Nghe An province have successfully rescued a fishing boat that had suffered engine failure and was drifting at sea.
At 1:00 AM on September 23rd, the Ben Thuy Coastal Information Station received information that at coordinates 18052'N; 106021'E, approximately 23 nautical miles east of Mat Island, the fishing vessel NA 95089 TS, captained by Mr. Dau Ngoc Dong, born in 1977, residing in Son Hai commune, Quynh Luu district (with 7 people on board), experienced gearbox failure while fishing.
Despite hours of repair attempts by the captain and crew, the problem could not be fixed. The captain requested assistance from the rescue authorities.

Upon receiving the report, the Nghe An Border Guard Command reported the situation to the Provincial Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue Office and the Border Guard Command Headquarters; simultaneously, they directed coastal units to inform vessels operating at sea of the location of the fishing boat with a malfunctioning gearbox drifting at sea so that they could provide assistance and rescue.

At 3:40 PM on September 23rd, the Border Guard Command of Nghe An province dispatched the rescue vessel BP 06.19.01 of Squadron 2, with 15 officers and soldiers on board, to carry out a rescue mission and tow the vessel NA 95089 TS safely ashore.
