Currently, up to 92% of the world's population lives in areas where air pollution levels exceed permissible limits.

The World Health Organization has just released a report stating that 92% of the world's population lives in areas where air pollution levels exceed the permissible threshold (according to World Health Organization standards), with Southeast Asia, the Eastern Mediterranean and the Western Pacific being the most severely affected.

According to the World Health Organization, 1 in 9 deaths worldwide are related to indoor or outdoor air pollution. Turkmenistan has the highest per capita death rate due to air pollution, followed by Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Egypt, and China.

The report focuses on outdoor air pollution, which kills about 3 million people each year. The aim of the report is to inform policymakers and the public about the risks posed by air pollution.

According to Dr Carlos Dora, the World Health Organization's coordinator for environment and health, the World Health Organization has no evidence that wearing masks, as people in some parts of Asia often do, helps reduce the inhalation of small particles.

China ranks 6th among countries with the highest per capita death rate due to air pollution.

Although the country has taken many measures to improve air quality, coal-fired factories, burning coal and firewood for cooking and heating in households and the transportation sector are still the main sources of pollution in China./.
