Writing on his Twitter page, Trump shared: "If 'idiot' Mark Cuban wants to sit in the front row, maybe I'll put Gennifer Flowers next to him!"

Trump's attack came after billionaire Cuban publicly endorsed Clinton and criticized Trump for not releasing his income tax returns, calling him "a madman."

Later, an aide to Clinton responded on CNN that Cuban was invited to sit in the front row of the debate because "he presented compelling facts against Trump and in support of Clinton."

Following Trump's announcement, Flowers said she would attend the debate.

An assistant to Ms. Flowers confirmed to BuzzFeed magazine that Ms. Flowers had accepted an invitation from Mr. Trump, although there has not yet been a formal invitation from the Republican candidate.

In response to Trump's actions, Clinton's communications director stated: "Hillary Clinton intended to use the debate to discuss issues relevant to the lives of American citizens. But it's not surprising that Donald Trump chose a different path."

It remains unclear whether the Presidential Debate Commission will allow either Cuban or Flowers to sit in the front row, as this could disrupt the discussion.
