Writing on his Twitter page, Mr. Trump shared: "If that "idiot" Mark Cuban wants to sit in the front row, maybe I'll put Gennifer Flowers next to him!"
Mr. Trump's attack came after billionaire Cuban publicly supported Mrs. Clinton and criticized Trump for not daring to release his income tax returns and called Trump a "crazy man."
A Clinton aide later told CNN that Cuban was invited to sit in the front row of the debate because "he presented valid facts against Trump and in favor of Clinton."
After Mr. Trump's announcement, Ms. Flowers said she would attend the debate.
Flowers' assistant confirmed to BuzzFeed that Flowers had accepted Trump's invitation, although there had been no formal invitation from the Republican candidate.
In response to Trump's actions, Clinton's communications director said: "Hillary Clinton intended to use the debate to discuss issues related to the lives of the American people. But it is not surprising that Donald Trump chose a different path."
It remains unclear whether the Commission on Presidential Debates will allow Mr. Cuban or Ms. Flowers to sit in the front row, which could disrupt the discussion.
