Mother arrested for abandoning baby to go to party

(Baonghean.vn) - Police in Majorca (Spain) recently arrested a British female tourist for allegedly leaving her 7-year-old son in a hotel overnight to go to a party.

Eleanor, 25, was arrested by police as she returned to her hotel at breakfast time. Staff at the Canarios Park Hotel had called the police when they found a boy alone in his room, crying. Police arrived and found the boy in a state of fear after waking up without his mother.

The boy said it was not the first time he had been left behind. The mother was later released on parole and given a suspended sentence. The court also warned Eleanor that she could face jail if she committed the same act again.

The mother is now awaiting a court decision on whether she can fly back to the UK with her son. According to a source, the son is being cared for by local social services.

Previously, last July, Benidorm police also arrested another British tourist for abandoning his 9-year-old twin children to go out drinking.

One of the boys was taken to the police station by a couple who saw him walking alone on the street looking for his mother.

The twin brother was later found lying in front of the apartment where they were staying during the holiday.
