Mother arrested for abandoning child to go to party

(Baonghean.vn) - Police in Majorca (Spain) recently arrested a British female tourist for allegedly leaving her 7-year-old son in a hotel overnight to go to a party.

Eleanor, 25, was arrested by police when she returned to her hotel at breakfast time. Earlier, Canarios Park hotel staff had called the police when they discovered a boy alone in his room and crying. Police arrived and found the boy in a state of fear because he woke up without his mother.

The boy said it was not the first time he had been left behind. The mother was later released on parole and given a suspended sentence. The court also warned Eleanor she could face jail if she committed the same act again.

The mother is now awaiting a court decision on whether she can fly back to the UK with her son. According to a source, the son is being cared for by local social services.

Previously, last July, Benidorm police also arrested another British tourist for abandoning his 9-year-old twin children to go out drinking.

One of the boys was taken to the police station by a couple who saw him walking alone on the street looking for his mother.

The twin brother was later found lying in front of the apartment where they were staying during the holiday.
