Nghe An: Prosecution of subjects taking advantage of democratic freedoms to infringe upon state interests, legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals
On September 26, the Investigation Police Agency of Nghe An Province Police coordinated with relevant agencies to serve and execute the decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and temporarily detain Ngo Tri Cuong (born in 1966, residing in Do Luong commune, Nghe An province) for the crime of "Abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals" as prescribed in Article 331 of the Penal Code.
Based on collected documents and evidence, it was determined that Ngo Tri Cuong frequently used the social network Facebook to post articles, images, and videos with content that insulted and defamed the honor and reputation of a number of individuals and organizations; at the same time, he commented and shared information that was untrue and inconsistent with the conclusions of the authorities, affecting the rights and legitimate interests of organizations and individuals, causing public outrage and affecting the security and order situation in the area.
The Nghe An Provincial Police Investigation Agency is urgently coordinating with functional units to investigate, consolidate records, and strictly handle the subject according to the law.
