Authorities dismantled an illegal lottery ring worth over 50 billion VND.

Specifically, the Criminal Police Department of Da Nang City discovered a group of individuals in Thang Binh commune and neighboring communes engaging in organized crime.gambleGambling in the form of lottery betting on a large scale was busted. Through professional measures, authorities caught nine individuals red-handed for organizing gambling activities, including: Nguyen Thi Bay (41 years old), Nguyen Thi Tam (39 years old), Nguyen Hung (60 years old), Dong Van Dung (57 years old), Dong Thi Van Nhi (23 years old), Hoang Thi Phi Anh (33 years old), Huynh Thi Phi (54 years old), Huynh Thi Hiep (54 years old), and Nguyen Cong Manh (57 years old).

In the initial stages of the investigation, the police identified Nguyen Thi Bay as the ringleader, who had been organizing and selling lottery tickets from January 2025 to the present. Every day, Bay's accomplices used mobile phones to communicate and exchange lottery tickets via Zalo and SMS, organizing the sale of lottery tickets to a large number of gamblers, including over 30 individuals in the communes of Thang Binh, Thang Truong, and Thang Dien (Da Nang city).

On September 17 alone, the amount of money involved in the gambling operation reached over 200 million VND; the total transaction amount from the beginning of 2025 to date has been determined to exceed 50 billion VND. The suspects have confessed to all their crimes. Authorities also seized numerous related items, including 10 mobile phones, documents, and other objects.

Currently, the Criminal Police Department (Da Nang City Police) has issued a temporary detention order for five individuals: Nguyen Thi Bay, Dong Van Dung, Huynh Thi Hiep, Hoang Thi Phi Anh, and Nguyen Cong Manh, to investigate their involvement in organizing and participating in gambling; simultaneously, they are continuing to expand the investigation and apprehend other related individuals.
