The world's first battery-powered trains suspended on tracks suspended in mid-air have just been unveiled in China.

A test was conducted in Chengdu city on September 30, Mirror reported. The new train can reach speeds of up to 60km/h and carry 120 passengers per carriage.

Speaking to People's Daily China, Mr. Zhai Wanming, project design director, said that these lithium battery-powered trains are more cost-effective and environmentally friendly than electric and rail systems.
