Train suspended in mid-air unveiled in China
The world's first battery-powered trains suspended on tracks suspended in mid-air have just been unveiled in China.
A test was conducted in Chengdu city on September 30, Mirror reported. The new train can reach speeds of up to 60km/h and carry 120 passengers per carriage.
Speaking to People's Daily China, Mr. Zhai Wanming, project design director, said that these lithium battery-powered trains are more cost-effective and environmentally friendly than electric and rail systems.

"We will conduct a test run for tens of thousands of kilometers to check the train's performance before officially putting it into operation," Mr. Zhai added.

Chengdu currently operates a subway system, the first city in China to officially have suspended rails.
