Cambodia officially faces Vietnam at AFF Cup

The Cambodian team continued to show impressive form when they won 3-2 against Timor-Leste in the final round of the 2016 AFF Cup qualifiers.

Cambodia won a ticket to the group stage of the 2016 AFF Cup.

Tith Dina and Chan Vathanaka (double) were the players who scored to help Cambodia win.

With this victory, Cambodia won 9 absolute points to officially have a ticket to participate in the group stage of the biggest football tournament in Southeast Asia.

Cambodia will be in Group B with three other teams: Myanmar, Vietnam and Malaysia. This group will be held in Myanmar.

In the final match, Cambodia entered the match very comfortably and it only took them 18 minutes to take a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Tith Dina and Chan Vathanaka.

However, after leading 2-0, the home team played somewhat subjectively, creating an opportunity for Timor-Leste to rise strongly and score two goals to tie the score 2-2.

Anggisu Barbosa reduced the score to 1-2 for Timor-Leste from the penalty spot in the 20th minute. Ch3i 16 minutes later, Nelson Sarmento Viegas scored the equalizer 2-2 for the away team.

Surprisingly, the opponents equalized, so the Cambodian players played with more concentration and it was not until the 78th minute that they secured their ticket to the group stage of the AFF Cup 2016a with Chan Vathanaka's goal that sealed the 3-2 victory.

In the match at the same time, the Laos team won 4-3 against Brunei. However, this victory could not help Laos avoid being eliminated from the tournament along with Brunei and Timor-Leste because only one team was selected to continue.
