Cambodia will officially face Vietnam in the AFF Cup.

The Cambodian national team continued its impressive form by winning 3-2 against Timor-Leste in the final match of the 2016 AFF Cup qualifiers.

Cambodia secured a place in the group stage of the 2016 AFF Cup.

Tith Dina and Chan Vathanaka (with a brace) were the players who scored to help Cambodia win.

With this victory, Cambodia earned a perfect 9 points, officially securing their place in the group stage of the biggest football tournament in Southeast Asia.

Cambodia will be in Group B along with three other teams: Myanmar, Vietnam, and Malaysia. This group stage will be held in Myanmar.

In their final match, Cambodia started comfortably and it only took them 18 minutes to take a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Tith Dina and Chan Vathanaka.

However, after taking a 2-0 lead, the home team became somewhat complacent, giving Timor-Leste the opportunity to mount a strong comeback and score two goals to equalize the score at 2-2.

Anggisu Barbosa reduced the deficit to 1-2 for Timor-Leste from the penalty spot in the 20th minute. Just 16 minutes later, Nelson Sarmento Viegas scored the equalizer, making it 2-2 for the visitors.

Unexpectedly conceding an equalizer, the Cambodian players became more focused and it wasn't until the 78th minute that they secured their place in the group stage of the 2016 AFF Cup with a winning goal from Chan Vathanaka, making the final score 3-2.

In the other match played at the same time, the Laos team won 4-3 against Brunei. However, this victory could not prevent Laos from being eliminated from the tournament along with Brunei and Timor-Leste, as only one team would advance.
