Plane carrying EU officials crashes, 5 dead.

A light aircraft believed to be carrying EU officials crashed just minutes after takeoff, killing five people. The incident occurred at Luqa International Airport in Malta at midday on October 24th.

The Times of Malta reported that the plane crashed near the runway and burst into flames. The incident occurred at 7:20 a.m. (local time), which is noon on October 24th in Vietnam. The Times of Malta source also confirmed that no one on board survived.

Staff from Mater Dei Hospital and rescue teams were present at the scene. Simultaneously, all flights to and from Luqa Airport were cancelled.

The ill-fated aircraft was a Metroliner used by Frontex officials – the EU's border management agency. Initial reports indicate the plane took off from Malta en route to Libya.
