Coach Bruno: A farewell at the peak of glory.
(Baonghean) - After leading the Vietnamese Futsal team to a miraculous achievement of reaching the top 4 in Asia and the round of 16 at the 2016 Futsal World Cup, it was thought that Coach Bruno would continue his successful career with Vietnamese football, but he unexpectedly announced his departure. This decision shocked many people, including the Vietnamese Futsal players, because he played a huge role in bringing Vietnamese Futsal to the international stage.
According to his contract, Coach Bruno was with the Vietnamese Futsal team from 2014 to 2017. At the time of his departure, there were still six months left on his contract. So what was the reason for the Spanish coach's departure from the Vietnamese Futsal team?

The most obvious thing is that after the success of the Vietnamese Futsal team, in the eyes of many, Coach Bruno is a "magician," a "wizard" - someone who has transformed a mediocre team, one that had not yet made its mark on the world stage, into one of the top eight teams in the world. Therefore, he received many offers from renowned Futsal teams and ultimately decided to accept the offer to coach the Japanese Futsal team. The specific salary, bonuses, and terms of this new contract are not yet known, but it will certainly be much more generous than what Coach Bruno is currently earning in Vietnam.
On the other hand, given what we have, the achievement at the 2016 Futsal World Cup was "beyond imagination" and had "reached its peak." It will probably be a long time before Vietnamese Futsal can replicate this feat. And seemingly anticipating this situation, Coach Bruno wisely chose another team to test himself rather than staying on a project that he knew would not be able to replicate the previous achievement.
Around the world, this is also a common occurrence. For example, when coach Mourinho was at the height of his glory, leading Inter Milan to victory over Bayern Munich in the 2010 Champions League final at the Bernabeu, he said: “My job is done. I have made history with the team. Now I will seek new motivation at another big club. Will I face Barca in Spain? That will be a big challenge.” Similarly, Pep Guardiola, the respected coach of FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich, also left his clubs while enjoying great success. Pep once revealed that the best way to leave a coaching position as a winner is to “leave while the spotlight is still on.”
Therefore, we can somewhat understand and sympathize with Coach Bruno's decision to leave when he was at the height of his value, given the brand he had just built at the 2016 Futsal World Cup, rather than staying and potentially being sacked in a few years, especially since our national team achieved a miracle on the world stage but futsal is still a relatively unfamiliar sport in Vietnam.
