Myanmar suffered a heavy defeat before their match against Vietnam.
The co-hosts of the 2016 AFF Cup, on November 14th, suffered a 0-3 defeat at the hands of Oman in their final friendly match before facing Vietnam in the opening game of Group B.
Despite playing at home and hoping for a win to build momentum for conquering the AFF Cup, the Myanmar players still allowed their opponents to control the game for most of the time. They were completely outmatched, their attack rarely created opportunities, while their defense made many mistakes. Oman punished Myanmar's defense with goals from Salem (11th minute), Said (54th minute) and Al Khaldi (68th minute).

This was the third defeat in seven preparatory matches for the co-hosts of the 2016 AFF Cup. They only managed one win against Hong Kong and three draws. But despite the poor results in the friendlies, head coach Gerd Zeise remains confident Myanmar will win Group B of the AFF Cup.
Myanmar will be Vietnam's first opponent on November 20th. After that, Coach Nguyen Huu Thang's team will face Malaysia and conclude the group stage with a match against Cambodia in the final round.
While Myanmar lost,Malaysia concluded their preparations for the 2016 AFF Cup with a 2-1 victory over Papua New Guinea.
