1. Audi Q2

The SUV that isn't quite an SUV, nicknamed "untagable" by the German automaker, has just appeared in Ho Chi Minh City. The Audi Q2 is noteworthy not only because it will usher in a new design trend for hybrid vehicles across different segments, similar to its sportback predecessors like the A5 or A7.

For the first time, an SUV like the Q2 has an even number, a number typically reserved for Audi's sedan models, instead of the odd numbers usually associated with SUVs like the Q5 or Q7. The Audi Q2 is highly anticipated because its price, as projected by the official distributor, is expected to be comparable to the compact sedan A4, approximately 1.4 billion VND.

2. Chevrolet Trailblazer

The American automaker had planned to bring the Trailblazer to the Vietnamese market in early 2017. Domestic consumers could have learned about this new model beforehand at the Vietnam Motor Show (VMS 2016). However, due to complications in the temporary import/re-export process, the Trailblazer was unable to appear.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer is positioned to compete in the 7-seater SUV segment with rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Everest, Hyundai SantaFe, and Kia Sorento.

The highlights of this model are its muscular, distinctly American design and a host of new technologies. The car features a smart key that allows remote engine start and front window unlocking, seven seats arranged in a theater-style configuration, an automatic climate control system with individual adjustments for each seat, and a range of modern safety technologies.

3. Ford Explorer

The appearance of the Ford Explorer at the VMS 201 exhibition was a surprise to domestic consumers.

The Explorer's design is reminiscent of the British Range Rover SUV. This large SUV isn't expected to sell well because it's in a niche segment and its price tag of nearly 2.2 billion VND isn't within the reach of many consumers. However, the Explorer will certainly do a good job of building Ford's brand, something that its predecessors like the Everest, Focus, and even the Escape, despite high expectations, failed to achieve.

4. Honda Civic

Having once dominated the market only to be overshadowed by rivals, the Civic is like a darling within the Honda family, but it receives less love outside of it. Despite consistently being praised for its enjoyable driving experience in its segment, Civic sales have often lagged far behind its competitors. Therefore, the complete redesign of the new generation is attracting even more attention from the market.

In its 10th generation, the Civic has completely shed its old look and donned a new, more stylish and sporty design. The interior has also been redesigned, making it more spacious than before.

In particular, the "heart" of the Civic is a completely new 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 170 horsepower and 220 Nm of maximum torque, equivalent to the power of a conventional 2.4-liter engine, while the combined cycle fuel consumption is only about 5.8 liters, on par with a conventional 1.5-liter engine.

The new generation Honda Civic is expected to officially hit the market from January 2017. The Japanese automaker has not yet announced the price for the Civic.

5. Mazda CX-3

Although Truong Hai introduced the Mazda CX-3 at the VMS 2016 exhibition, they did not reveal any plans for its market launch. Nevertheless, the market is still eagerly awaiting the official launch of the CX-3 in early 2017.

The Mazda CX-3 can be considered a smaller version of its larger sibling, the CX-5, a model that was once very popular in the market. It has a similar design to the CX-5 and is also quite well-equipped. The difference is that this model targets young, urban consumers with moderate financial means.

In the Vietnamese market, the Mazda CX-3 will compete directly with rivals such as the Ford EcoSport, Hyundai i20 Active, and another newcomer, the Chevrolet Trax.

6. Porsche Panamera Turbo

The Panamera Turbo won't officially launch on the global market until next year. However, this model has already arrived in Vietnam through the VIMS 2016 exhibition.

Furthermore, the official Porsche distributor has stated that Vietnamese consumers can now order the 2017 Panamera Turbo at a standard price starting from 10.66 billion VND.

The Panamera Turbo version uses a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 gasoline engine, delivering a maximum power of 550 horsepower at 5,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 770 Nm from 1,960 to 4,500 rpm. With the sport mode activated, the Panamera Turbo accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. This Porsche also boasts an impressive top speed of 306 km/h.

7. Toyota Fortuner

The previous generation is still selling well, and that seems to be even more reason for high expectations for the new generation Fortuner. The 2017 Fortuner has been available in other markets for quite some time, but traditionally, Toyota models only arrive in Vietnam about six months after their launch in Thailand.

The car uses a 2.7-liter, 4-cylinder inline, 16-valve, DOHC, VVT-i gasoline engine. This version delivers a maximum power of 164 horsepower and a maximum torque of 245 Nm. The list of safety features is also more extensive than the previous generation. Notable features include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Downhill Assist Control (DAC), a 7-airbag system, cruise control, and a rearview camera...

This 7-seater SUV model is expected to be officially launched in the Vietnamese market by the Toyota Vietnam joint venture in the first quarter of 2017.
