'Roll call' 7 car models about to launch in Vietnam market
"Roll call" 7 highly anticipated car models that are about to officially launch in the Vietnamese market...
1. Audi Q2
![]() |
The SUV model that is not really an SUV, nicknamed untagable by the German car company, has just appeared in Ho Chi Minh City. The Audi Q2 is notable not only because this model will open a new design trend for hybrid cars between segments, similar to previous sportback models such as the A5 or A7.
For the first time, an SUV like the Q2 has an even number, which is usually reserved for Audi sedans, and not an odd number, which is reserved for SUVs like the Q5 or Q7. The Audi Q2 is expected because the selling price is estimated by the official distributor to be equivalent to the small sedan A4, which is about 1.4 billion VND.
2. Chevrolet Trailblazer

The American car company planned to bring Trailblazer to the Vietnamese market in early 2017. Domestic consumers could have learned about this new model in advance at the Vietnam Motor Show (VMS 2016). However, due to problems in the temporary import and re-export process, Trailblazer has not been able to appear.
Chevrolet Trailblazer is positioned to compete in the 7-seat SUV segment with rivals Toyota Fortuner, Ford Everest, Hyundai SantaFe and Kia Sorento.
The highlight of this car is its muscular American design and a series of new technologies. The car is equipped with a smart key that can start the car remotely and open the front window, 7 seats arranged in the style of theater seats, an automatic air conditioning system that can be adjusted individually for each seat position, and a series of modern safety technologies.
3. Ford Explorer

The appearance of Ford Explorer at VMS 201 exhibition was a surprise to domestic consumers.
Explorer has a design reminiscent of the Range Rover SUV from England. This large SUV is not expected to sell well because it is inherently in a narrow segment and the selling price of nearly 2.2 billion VND is also beyond the reach of many consumers. However, Explorer will certainly do a good job of branding for Ford, something that despite high expectations, previous models such as Everest, Focus or even Escape have not done well before.
4. Honda Civic

Having once taken the market by storm and then been overshadowed by its competitors, the Civic is a darling of Honda but not loved outside. Although it has always been considered a model with interesting performance in its segment, the Civic's sales volume is often far behind its competitors. Therefore, the complete transformation of the new generation has attracted more attention from the market.
In the 10th generation, Civic has completely shed its old coat to put on a new, more fashionable and sporty coat. The interior has also been redesigned, more spacious than before.
In particular, the "heart" of the Civic is a completely new 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a capacity of 170 horsepower and a maximum torque of 220 Nm, equivalent to the power of a conventional 2.4-liter engine while the fuel consumption on the combined cycle is only about 5.8 liters, equal to a conventional 1.5-liter engine.
The new generation Honda Civic is expected to officially hit the market in January 2017. The Japanese automaker has yet to announce the price for the Civic.
5. Mazda CX-3

Introducing Mazda CX-3 at VMS 2016 exhibition, Truong Hai did not reveal any plans to sell it on the market. However, the market still expects CX-3 to officially launch in early 2017.
The Mazda CX-3 can be considered a miniature version of its big brother, the CX-5, a model that was once very popular on the market. The car has a similar design to the CX-5 and is also quite fully equipped. The difference is that this model will target young consumers, living in urban areas and with moderate financial capacity.
In the Vietnamese market, Mazda CX-3 will compete directly with rivals Ford EcoSport, Hyundai i20 Active or another rookie, Chevrolet Trax.
6. Porsche Panamera Turbo
![]() |
It will not be until next year that the Panamera Turbo will officially launch in the world market. However, this model has already appeared in Vietnam through the VIMS 2016 exhibition.
Even the official Porsche distributor said that from now on, Vietnamese consumers can order the Panamera Turbo 2017 with a standard price starting at 10.66 billion VND.
The Panamera Turbo version is equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine, with a maximum capacity of 550 horsepower at 5,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 770 Nm from 1,960 - 4,500 rpm. With the sport function activation package, the Panamera Turbo accelerates in just 3.6 seconds. The maximum speed of this Porsche is also very impressive, reaching 306 km/h.
7. Toyota Fortuner
![]() |
The old generation is still selling well and that is considered the reason why the new generation Fortuner is expected more. Fortuner 2017 has been present in other markets for quite a while but traditionally, Toyota models usually only come to Vietnam after being present in Thailand for about half a year.
The car uses a 4-cylinder inline gasoline engine, 16 valves, DOHC, VVT-i, capacity of 2.7 liters. This version has a maximum capacity of 164 horsepower and a maximum torque of 245 Nm. The list of safety equipment is also denser than the previous generation. Notably, there is a vehicle stability system (VSC), hill start assist system (HAC), downhill assist function (DAC), 7 airbags, cruise control function and rear camera...
It is expected that this 7-seat SUV model will be officially sold by Toyota Vietnam joint venture in the first quarter of 2017.
