Binh 'ghost' gang of thieves specializing in breaking into foreign ships sentenced
Vung Tau City People's Court sentenced Nguyen Thanh Binh (alias Binh "ghost") to 4 years and 6 months in prison, and Binh's six accomplices received sentences ranging from 2 to 4 years in prison.

On November 15, the People's Court of Vung Tau City brought the case of theft and consumption of property obtained by others through criminal acts led by Nguyen Thanh Binh (aka Binh "ma", 42 years old, residing in Thang Nhi ward, Vung Tau city) to a mobile trial, and sentenced him to the above sentences.
Previously, in May 2016, the Border Guard of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province arrested six subjects using a boat to approach the ship HAYDN (Madeira nationality, anchored at buoy area 0, Vung Tau), using ropes and iron hooks to climb up and take 21 cans of Hempel paint.
After taking it, the group sold it to Tran Nguyen Hong (49 years old, residing on Tran Phu Street, Ward 5, Vung Tau City) for more than 15 million VND.
According to the valuation of the competent authority, the 21 paint cans that the Binh "ma" gang stole and sold to Hong were worth more than 41 million VND.

At the trial, Binh “ma” confessed and admitted his theft. In this case, there were also other subjects involved, Huynh Van Sang and a person named Man - currently the police are continuing to verify and arrest them for handling according to regulations.
Notably, thefts like those carried out by the Binh "ma" gang over the years in Vung Tau have turned the port area here into a "black spot" that is warned to guard against international maritime theft.
