On November 15th, the People's Court of Vung Tau City held a mobile trial for the case of theft and receiving stolen property, led by Nguyen Thanh Binh (aka Binh "ma", 42 years old, residing in Thang Nhi Ward, Vung Tau City), and handed down the sentences as mentioned above.
Previously, in May 2016, the Border Guard of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province arrested six individuals who used a boat to approach the HAYDN ship (Madeira nationality, anchored at buoy number 0, Vung Tau), and used ropes and iron hooks to climb aboard and steal 21 barrels of Hempel paint.
After stealing it, the group sold it to Tran Nguyen Hong (49 years old, residing on Tran Phu Street, Ward 5, Vung Tau City) for over 15 million VND.
According to the valuation by the competent authority, the 21 cans of paint that Binh "the Ghost"'s gang stole and sold to Hong were worth more than 41 million dong.

Notably, the thefts perpetrated by gangs like Binh "the Ghost" over the years in Vung Tau have turned the port area into a "black spot" for international maritime security, prompting warnings about potential theft.
