On her personal page, actress Dan Le recently revealed behind-the-scenes stories of 'The Judge', a film that took 11 months to shoot, wrapped up on December 5th, and is considered a key film project of VFC, scheduled to air in March 2017.
She said: "Hoang Dung's father - an incredibly sharp and astute man. He never stepped onto a set without having his lines memorized (the judge's lines were a whole page long). Even in the final scenes, he suffered a stomach hemorrhage and had to be rushed to the hospital with less than 4 units of blood (while a healthy person has around 12 units), his hands trembling so much he couldn't hold a water bottle, and he was sweating profusely, yet he never uttered a word of complaint about being tired, nor did he urge the filming to end early."
"The Judge" not only had a long filming period but was also primarily shot in mountainous and forested areas. The film also featured many night scenes, so it was common for the actors to work until 2-3 AM. Furthermore, People's Artist Hoang Dung, being the Director of the Hanoi Drama Theatre, often had to return to Hanoi after filming in distant locations. The prolonged, stressful work schedule, coupled with long-distance travel, contributed to his stomach bleeding.

In 'The Judge', People's Artist Hoang Dung plays Phan Quan (the Boss) - Chairman and CEO of Phan Thi Company. Phan Quan is the underground kingpin of the border region's underworld - the one who settles disputes over money, love, and gang feuds that cannot be brought to court. This is considered a pivotal role throughout the film.
People's Artist Hoang Dung is a familiar face on television. He has participated in many films and was also the acting teacher of actors Viet Anh, Hong Dang, etc., in the first television acting training class of VFC 10 years ago. However, in recent times, People's Artist Hoang Dung has acted less in films because he has focused on management. Therefore, 'The Judge' can be considered the film that marks the return of People's Artist Hoang Dung to the screen.
