The Nghe An Provincial Youth Union is committed to caring for and assisting 60 children with special circumstances.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 10th, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union held a conference to summarize the work of the Youth Union and the youth and children's movement in 2016.
The conference was attended by representatives from the Provincial Party Committee Office, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union, heads of district-level youth union organizations in the province, and a number of related individuals and units. Comrade Pham Tuan Vinh - Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union and Duong Hoang Vu - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union chaired the conference.

In 2016, together with other provincial departments and agencies, the Youth Union branches in Nghe An province did a good job of disseminating and educating on the Party's directives and resolutions with many specific and practical contents and forms. In particular, the "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh" campaign was linked to the revolutionary activities and movements of the Youth Union throughout the province, such as: supporting students during exams, volunteering for community life, voluntary blood donation, free medical examinations and treatment, etc.
During the year, the Provincial Youth Union commended 33 outstanding young people across the province and awarded 20 March 26th prizes to individuals with excellent achievements. In addition, it successfully organized many large-scale activities at the provincial and central levels; and arranged for Youth Union members and young people in the province to participate in over 3,500 exchange activities, seminars, trips to historical sites, and gratitude-paying events… aimed at educating them about the traditions of the Youth Union and strengthening their faith in the Party's leadership.

In the movements "Volunteerism for socio-economic development and national defense" and "Supporting young people in establishing themselves and their careers," the youth of the province have achieved many accomplishments, such as: completing 89 youth projects at the district level and 2,300 youth projects at the commune level; mobilizing contributions of nearly 500 million VND to illuminate 25 km of village roads in disadvantaged communes; providing regular assistance and support to 82 communes and armed forces units in border and island areas...
In the work of caring for and educating children and building the Youth Union, many effective movements have been launched, especially helping children in remote areas and disadvantaged children with over 5 billion VND in scholarships; and placing more than 1,000 warning signs in dangerous areas to prevent accidents and injuries.
In the "Small Plan" movement, more than 2,000 Red Scarf chicken flocks, worth 1.2 billion VND, were donated to poor students in remote areas... International youth work and the activities of public service units and youth volunteer forces have many noteworthy highlights.

In its 2017 work orientation, with the theme "Improving the Quality of Youth Union Organizations," the Provincial Youth Union focused on improving the quality of branch activities and the quality of its members. It emphasized strengthening the education and training of young people in revolutionary ideals, moral values, lifestyles, traditions, and culture; especially political and ideological education for youth union members regarding maritime sovereignty, islands, and the national border situation.
Directing the successful implementation of the Youth Union Congress at all levels. Supporting Youth Union members and young people in starting businesses, establishing careers, and building economic development models.
At the same time, to concretize the work content, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union plans to organize 29 provincial-level activities in 2017 such as competitions for excellent speakers and propagandists, competitions in electrical and mechanical skills, competitions to improve the quality of branch union activities; programs such as "Youth and Gratitude", "Loving Life"; volunteer activities, etc.
The focus of this work is the implementation of the plan to assign youth organizations to take responsibility for caring for and assisting disadvantaged children in Nghe An province to excel in their studies during the period 2017-2022, with the plan to be implemented in 60 communes in the province.

At the conference, many opinions and suggestions were expressed regarding the direction of work in 2017, aiming to improve the quality of activities of youth organizations and youth work throughout the province, and to achieve the set goals.
The delegates expressed interest in contributing ideas on supporting and strengthening legal education and awareness for young people in mountainous and remote districts, especially Ky Son district.
Representatives from the Quy Hop District Youth Union suggested organizing quarterly youth activities; arranging employment for youth union officials who have exceeded the age limit and related benefits; coordinating activities between the children's center and local youth movements; implementing policies for mature youth union officials according to Decision 289, paying attention to ensuring the source and quality of successor officials; clearly defining the functions of the Youth Union and the Youth Association, with the Youth Union playing a core role in guiding activities and the Youth Association contributing to specific activities.

The Nghi Loc District Youth Union provided feedback on the method of calculating the percentage of youth union members, the evaluation of emulation activities by cluster, and the issue of attracting district-level youth union officials.
Representatives from the Hung Nguyen District Youth Union proposed strengthening measures to improve the quality of youth union work and the performance of youth union officials at all levels, especially at the commune and village levels.

At the conference, 14 collectives and 10 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit from the Central Youth Union for their outstanding achievements in youth union work and youth movements in 2016; 10 collectives were honored as outstanding examples in 2016 by the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee; and 18 outstanding youth union branches received Certificates of Merit from the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee.
The Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union also voted to relieve Comrade Duong Hoang Vu - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union - from his position as Chairman of the Provincial Children's Council and elected Comrade Nguyen Thi Thom - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union - to assume the position of Chairman of the Provincial Children's Council.
