After more than two years since murdering the female owner of a coffee shop on the outskirts of Saigon during an argument over money for sexual services, Hau was brought to trial.

On November 30, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court sentenced Nguyen Huu Hau (28 years old) to life imprisonment for the crimes of murder and robbery.

In court, Hau testified that in the early afternoon of November 4, 2014, after drinking alcohol, he went to a coffee shop on National Highway 22 (Cu Chi District) for a drink. Later, the 28-year-old female owner of the shop invited Hau into a room for sexual services.

Dissatisfied with the "service," Hau paid 130,000 VND and was about to leave, but the owner stopped him and demanded triple the amount. When he refused, the woman locked the door, preventing him from leaving, leading to a scuffle.

The shop owner attacked Hau with two knives, injuring her. He then grabbed a fan to hit her back and used an electrical cord to strangle her until she lost consciousness.

While he was rummaging through her bag for the keys, the victim woke up. Hau then grabbed a knife and slashed her neck multiple times, causing the shop owner's death.

Before leaving the scene, he stole the victim's money, jewelry, and phone. Hau was arrested more than a month later.
