Organizing a mini-football tournament to support the hometown.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 11th, at the Defo stadium in Di An town (Binh Duong province), the Thanh Xuan (Thanh Chuong) hometown association organized a mini-football tournament to raise funds to support their hometown.

Eight teams, comprised of children from eight hamlets of Thanh Xuan commune currently living, studying, and working in the South, participated in the tournament. The competition took place from December 11, 2016, to January 1, 2017.

The organizers plan to award first, second, and third prizes, as well as prizes for best style, best fan, best goalkeeper, and best player. The first prize will include a trophy and 3 million VND.

The organizers are calling for donations to support their hometown.

The Thanh Xuan Village Association's mini-football tournament in the South, although a grassroots event at the village level, is organized quite systematically, aiming to create a beneficial playground, strengthen the bond of camaraderie among fellow villagers, and especially to encourage children living away from home, sponsors, and philanthropists to donate and support their hometown of Thanh Xuan.

The first matches took place immediately after the opening ceremony.

Right at the opening ceremony, the organizers raised nearly 37 million VND, 100 books of various kinds, 100 comic books, hundreds of notebooks, and over 240 eChip - a handbook for computer users…

The organizing committee will welcome support from all organizations and individuals until the closing ceremony. The money and materials collected will be sent back to the hometowns to be donated to underprivileged but studious students at Tran Hung Hoc and Dang Thai Mai primary schools, as well as to the libraries of primary and secondary schools and the Thanh Xuan commune library.
