On December 25th, Dr. Duong Duc Hung, Head of the General Planning Department of Bach Mai Hospital, stated that on the same day, the hospital's Emergency Department received two patients transferred from Tri Duc General Hospital (located on Le Duan Street, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi). One patient had already died, while the other was receiving emergency treatment and was in critical condition.

"According to Tri Duc Hospital, these patients suffered from drug shock after anesthesia. Currently, Bach Mai Hospital is awaiting the results of the forensic examination before determining the cause of death of the patient born in 1976 and the other patient," Mr. Hung said.

According to Dr. Hung, when a patient goes into shock, doctors usually stop anesthesia for the remaining patients. The head of the department raised the question of whether there were any issues with the quality of the anesthetic drugs used at Tri Duc Hospital.

Later that same day, authorities arrived at the Tri Duc Hospital headquarters on Le Duan Street (Hai Ba Trung District) to verify and clarify the incident.

The latest information from the Hanoi Department of Health Inspectorate indicates that they have received reports of two patient deaths at Tri Duc Hospital (Le Duan Street, Hai Ba Trung District). Initial information suggests the cause of death is suspected to be anaphylactic shock following anesthesia. The health sector is currently cooperating with the police to determine the cause of death. The forensic department is conducting an autopsy to aid in the investigation. Medical records and related evidence have been seized by the police.

According to initial reports, these two patients underwent surgery under general anesthesia on the morning of December 25th. One of them, a female patient undergoing thyroid surgery, experienced anaphylactic shock after receiving the anesthetic, exhibiting symptoms such as difficulty breathing, hypotension, circulatory collapse, and impaired consciousness. Upon noticing signs of anaphylactic shock, the patients received immediate on-site emergency care and were subsequently transferred to Bach Mai Hospital for further treatment. However, one patient died upon arrival at the emergency room, and the other also succumbed later.
