The bridge is dilapidated, and residents are worried it might collapse.
(Baonghean.vn) - The Mang Bridge, located in Nam Son commune (Do Luong district), is in a state of serious disrepair. Because it is an important bridge connecting to National Highway 7, local residents have to cross it daily, constantly fearing it might collapse.

The bridge is narrow, so only one vehicle is allowed to cross at a time.
The Canal Bridge, spanning the Dao River in Nam Son commune, was built in 1982. It consists of two parts: the lower canal, primarily used for water supply to agricultural production, and the upper section, paved with concrete slabs, for use by local residents.
However, due to its age and long period of use, the bridge is now showing signs of damage and deterioration. The bridge surface is peeling in many places, the concrete slabs are cracked, and the railings, with their small concrete pillars interspersed with small iron bars, are rusted and have loose joints.
The bridge serves not only the transportation needs of the people of Nam Son commune but also those of neighboring communes in Do Luong district who want to access National Highway 7.

The bridge railings have deteriorated, posing a potential danger to people crossing the bridge.
Although thousands of people cross this bridge every day, its narrow width means only vehicles can pass in one direction, while others have to wait their turn. During school dismissal times, the bridge is operating at full capacity as long lines of people try to cross.
Not only does this make travel difficult for local residents, but people in Nam Son and Bac Son hamlets who want to transport construction materials for houses or other projects have to take a longer, roundabout route.

The local authorities put up signs warning people that the bridge was weak.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Duc, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Son commune, said: Currently, the local authorities have put up warning signs at both ends of the bridge to alert road users. The Department of Roads has also surveyed the bridge and included it in the list of weak bridges. The commune hopes that relevant levels and sectors will soon have a plan to upgrade and repair the bridge to ensure convenient and safe travel for the people.
