World public opinion condemns the assassination of the Russian Ambassador to Türkiye
The assassination of the Russian Ambassador to Türkiye right in the capital Ankara is shocking world public opinion.
Today (December 20), newspapers in many countries have published a lot of information surrounding the incident and have shared and commented on it by many international diplomats.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova spoke out last night, affirming that this was an act of terrorism.

The head of the European Union's diplomatic service, Ms. Federika Mogherini, in a letter to the Russian Foreign Ministry, emphasized: "I am deeply saddened to learn of the incident. My deepest condolences to the family of the Ambassador and his colleagues. The European Union strongly condemns this attack and expresses its solidarity with Russia."
The United Nations also strongly protested that “attacks on diplomats or ambassadors are unjustifiable” and recommended that countries find and deal with these acts appropriately. The United Nations Security Council also considered this an act of terrorism by organizations or sponsors behind the perpetrators.
In its statement, the UN Security Council also affirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations must be considered a serious threat to international peace and security. The UN Security Council reiterated the “fundamental principle” of the inviolability of diplomats as enshrined in the Vienna Convention.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon also immediately condemned the incident and in his statement, he called this act “senseless terrorism” and unjustified. He also announced that he would continue to monitor the developments of the incident.
Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Valistriom wrote on her personal page that he was “deeply shocked” by the assassination of the Russian Ambassador in Ankara.
Former Swedish Foreign Minister and Prime Minister Karl Bilt compared the move to the assassination of Crown Prince Frans Ferdinand in Saravo, which led to World War I.
He expressed concern that attacking a diplomat could further escalate the situation in the region./.
