'Spring and Youth' fills the December edition of "Melodies of Pride".

The December melodies of pride will bring songs of hope, a musical celebration of the new spring, and beautiful memories of past springs.

The December edition of "Proud Melodies," themed "Spring and Youth," will recreate songs from the New Music era of the 1940s and 1950s, reflecting the colors and sounds of lyrical and contemporary music. These love songs blend traditional arrangements with slow tempos, interspersed with folk notes and a touch of jazz and chamber music, creating a gentle and romantic atmosphere.

The song "Spring and Youth" is a lively Rumba track performed with the gentle, skillful vocals of the group 5 Dòng Kẻ. Composed by musician La Hối when he was 20 years old, it is also his most famous song. The youthful and profound lyrics, combined with the vibrant melody, create a lively and spring-like atmosphere. Since then, "Spring and Youth" has remained one of the best and most frequently performed spring songs throughout the country and among Vietnamese communities abroad.

A year after La Hoi wrote the song "Spring and Youth," composer Hoang Giac, also inspired by a dreamlike romance, created a timeless masterpiece, "Dreaming of Flowers," at the age of 21. Composed in 1945, the song's melody and lyrics resemble a young man's flirtatious declaration to his dream girl. On the December edition of "Melodies of Pride," the collaboration between singer Erik and arranger Khac Hung made the song feel more youthful.

Two years later, in 1947, the song "You Came to Visit Me on a Rainy Afternoon" by composer Tô Vũ was born. The lyrics expressed both the discreet reserve and the slightly bold nature of those "in love." MC Nguyễn Hữu Chiến Thắng, a member of the judging panel for the December edition of "Melodies of Pride," exclaimed: "Hoàng Hải singing in F major made the afternoon take flight and soar high."

The cheerful lyrics of composer Tran Hoan's debut work, "Mountain Girl's Song"—composed in 1948—will have a rather modern musical feel with the tango influences of the petty bourgeoisie. The song was composed in the Quang Binh war zone when the composer met female militia members who were students at Phan Boi Chau School. Touched by the affection of these girls, the young man recalled his love back home. Ultimately, he wrote "Mountain Girl's Song" as a rejection of love and a choice for the Revolution.

In 1949, the song "Du Am" (Lingering Echoes) was created after a failed love affair of composer Nguyen Van Ty. With his performance of "Du Am," singer Ha Anh Tuan conveyed the "melancholy of love" in his voice.

On the December edition of "Melodies of Pride," the production team placed two arrangements of "Bóng chiều xưa" and "Chiều" side-by-side to create a medley, performed gracefully by vocalists Lê Anh Dũng and Nhật Thuỷ.

Closing out the December edition of "Melodies of Pride" is the song "Ly Ruou Mung" (A Toast to the New Year) by composer Pham Dinh Chuong, performed by female singers Bao Tram and Ngoc Khue and the group Dong Thoi Gian (Flow of Time). The song serves as a wish for a warm and joyful new year to the audience.
