Nghe An: Nearly 48 billion VND has been distributed to the poor during Tet.

(Baonghean.vn) - During the Lunar New Year of Dinh Dau 2017, 303 organizations and individuals inside and outside the province donated 47,789,854,800 VND to the poor.

The Fatherland Front of Nghe An province announced that, in response to the appeal letter from the Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee to support the poor in celebrating Tet Dinh Dau (2017) and Plan No. 779/KH-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee on organizing the "Tet for the Poor - Dinh Dau" program, as of February 9, 2017, 303 organizations and individuals had directly and indirectly contributed a total of 47,789,854,800 VND (reaching 107% of the registered amount).

There were 84,014 households, including 72,280 poor households (90.11%), 11,734 near-poor households, families receiving preferential treatment, people with disabilities, orphans, and those receiving medical treatment; cattle and production materials were donated to communes in the western region under Program 30a… with an average gift value of 500,000 VND per person during Tet.

Some localities have an average gift amount of 700,000 VND or more per household, such as Vinh City, Cua Lo Town, Hoang Mai Town, Thai Hoa Town, and Quynh Luu District. However, in the mountainous districts under Decree 30a, the percentage of poor households receiving gifts remains low; in some places, the gift amount has not reached the general average of 500,000 VND per household.

Fifteen districts, cities, and towns organized gift-giving events, providing assistance to 100% of impoverished households during the Lunar New Year of 2017.
