Mr. On set off fireworks to celebrate New Year's Eve on the night of January 28th, injuring both himself and a neighbor.

The Lang Son Provincial Police officially announced that two young men, Hoang Van On, 31, and Hoang Van Nham, 28, both residing in Ao Vuong village, Cam Son commune, Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province, who were seriously injured by firecrackers on New Year's Eve and were received by the Chi Lang District Medical Center and transferred to the Lang Son Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment, are now out of danger.

However, he is not yet ready to be discharged and is continuing to receive treatment and monitoring at Lang Son Provincial General Hospital.

The leaders of Lang Son General Hospital also stated that upon admission, patient Hoang Van On had severely crushed arms and forearms and had lost a significant amount of blood. After emergency resuscitation, he was transferred to the operating room to remove the crushed stump, suture the skin for reconstruction, and amputate half of his forearm.

As for Hoang Van Nham, his left eye was bleeding profusely, diagnosed as a ruptured eyeball with irreversible prolapse of intraocular tissue. This patient was also transferred for emergency surgery to remove the left eyeball. Although their condition has gradually stabilized, they have been left with severe sequelae. Hoang Van On lost half of his forearm, while Hoang Van Nham is permanently blind in his left eye.

According to the victims' families, although the firework incident did not occur in Lang Son province, and transferring family members to the Chi Lang District Medical Center for emergency treatment was outside their designated area, the urgent need to save lives led them to decide to transfer the victims to the Chi Lang District Medical Center, which was closer to home.

Because the distance from the victims' homes to the Luc Ngan District Health Center or Bac Giang Provincial Hospital was much greater than transferring them to the Chi Lang District Health Center (Lang Son) for emergency treatment, the Chi Lang District Health Center, seeing the critical condition of both victims, immediately transferred them to the Lang Son General Hospital for timely treatment.

The Lang Son police also reported that after the two patients regained consciousness, the investigating agency worked with the hospital and the two male patients to verify and clarify the cause of the incident. Initially, the two patients admitted that the incident was caused by setting off firecrackers to celebrate New Year's Eve on the night of January 28th (around 1 AM on the first day of Tet).

At the time of the incident, Hoang Van On was setting off firecrackers in front of his house, when his neighbor, Hoang Van Nham, also ran out and stood beside him watching. The firecrackers exploded, causing injuries to both of them.
