The leader of Lang Son General Hospital also said that at the time of admission, patient Hoang Van On's forearm was crushed and he had lost a lot of blood. After emergency resuscitation, he was transferred to the operating room to have his crushed stump removed, the skin stitched to create a shape, and half of his forearm was amputated.
As for Hoang Van Nham, his left eye bled profusely, diagnosed as a ruptured eyeball, with irreversible protrusion of the internal eye tissue. According to the victims' families, although the firecracker incident did not occur in Lang Son, and transferring the victims to Chi Lang District Medical Center for emergency treatment was out of line, but because the urgent situation of saving people was important, everyone decided to transfer the victims to Chi Lang District Medical Center for emergency treatment closer to home.
Because the distance from the victims' homes to Luc Ngan District Medical Center or Bac Giang Provincial Hospital is much farther than transferring to Chi Lang District Medical Center (Lang Son) for emergency treatment. However, because the condition of both victims was too serious, Chi Lang District Medical Center immediately transferred these victims to the upper level at Lang Son General Hospital for timely treatment.
Lang Son police also informed that after the two patients regained consciousness, the investigation agency worked with the hospital and the two male patients to verify and clarify the cause of the incident. Initially, the two patients admitted that the cause of the incident was due to setting off firecrackers to celebrate New Year's Eve on the night of January 28 (at nearly 1 a.m. on the first day of Tet).
At the time of the incident, Hoang Van On brought firecrackers to his front yard to light, and Hoang Van Nham, On's neighbor, also ran out and stood next to him watching On light the firecrackers. When the firecrackers exploded, both of them were injured.
