Fishermen strike it rich with a 100-ton catch of barramundi worth 6 billion VND.

On the morning of March 12th, while fishing near Con Co Island (Quang Tri province), Mr. Tuan's boat unexpectedly caught a haul of 100 tons of scad fish, and he had to ask his fellow fishermen to help transport the fish to port for sale.

At around 8 am on March 12th, fishing boats from Quang Tri province docked at Cua Viet port, bringing ashore a small portion of the 100 tons of rare grouper fish.

Two days ago, Mr. Le Van Tuan's boat (residing in Gio Viet commune, Gio Linh district) went to the fishing grounds near Con Co Island to fish with purse seine nets.By dawn on March 12th, the fishing vessel had caught an estimated 100 tons of scad fish, each weighing 10-30 kg. The fishing location was approximately 6 nautical miles north of Con Co Island.

Due to the enormous quantity of fish, Mr. Tuan called on more boats from local fishermen on shore to help transport the fish to the port for sale. Currently, a fishing boat belonging to fisherman Luong Van Duyet has brought the first 20 tons to Cua Viet port. Many traders, hearing the news, gathered in large numbers to buy the fish.

Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Vice Chairman of Gio Viet commune, said that the boat owner reported a catch of approximately 100 tons of scad fish. "With a selling price of 40-60 thousand dong per kilogram, fisherman Tuan will earn about 4-6 billion dong from this fishing trip," Mr. Hai said.
